LABOR AND BIRTH DOULA SUPPORT

What does a birth doula do?

As a birth doula, I adapt to the individual needs of my clients. I provide a calming presence in the birth space and help guide your spouse or partner with tips and tricks for comfort and assurance. In the weeks leading up to your birth, I am available to answer questions, help you envision and communicate your birth wishes with your medical provider, and prepare your home for your newborn.  While you are in labor, I may offer suggestions for optimal positions to help baby engage in the pelvis, massage your back between contractions to help you relax, or remind you that you are doing amazing. Want an epidural? Great! Let’s talk about the different positions you can labor in on the bed, or alternative ways you can push with an epidural. Prefer an un-medicated birth? Excellent! Let’s discuss coping strategies, things you want to avoid, and a code word in case you change your mind about medication.

With experience supporting families at home, hospital, and birth centers, I welcome all birth plans and family structures, including same sex couples and solo parent households.
